Charles Wallace

Charles graduated from Carmel High School before going on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Finance with a Minor in Economics from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business at Indianapolis. While attending college full time and raising his son as a single father, he also worked full time as an independent contractor in the telecommunications field. This was an invaluable time in Charles’ life where he earned real world experience in the areas of workflow management, small business budgeting, accounting, marketing, and trade skills.

Charles also dabbled in equities trading in 2008 during the Bear Market, and even beat the S&P 500 by 30%, but  decided that he was really passionate about Real Estate as an asset class because it is tangible and artistic. “You have significantly greater control over wealth creation with Real Estate compared to equities and I have always been a hands-on type of person.”

After college, Charles joined Integra Realty Resources as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser where he practiced real property and business valuations for three years. This gave him tremendous insights into land development patterns, investment analysis, and investor motivations. Charles truly wanted to be involved in the acquisition and management of Real Estate. He then obtained his Broker License and moved into the Property Management field. Charles has successfully managed his own portfolio of properties since purchasing his first duplex in college.

From 2008 through the post-recession recovery, Charles served as Project Manager for a local construction company specializing in single-family home rehabs for a number of large, out-of-state investors. In that role, he oversaw more than $1 MM per year in revenues; he prepared bids and scopes of work, assisted with vendor procurement, filed WIP billings and lien waiver requests, and was responsible for overall project coordination.

Today, Charles is President of Dry By Design Roofing and Restoration (drybydesignindy.com), an Indianapolis-based insurance restoration contractor. He personally manages inspections, estimating, supplement writing, and adjuster communications, and he has worked full time as a general contractor for the past decade. Charles has also been a licensed real estate professional and NAR member since 2014.
